2011 Zero DS Random Cut-Outs
« on: June 12, 2020, 08:37:19 AM »

Hello All,

I'm troubleshooting an issue with my 2011 Zero DS.  I've been having erratic issues with the bike having all power drop while riding around  Motor goes dead, and dashboard goes blank.

I looked through the log on the bike via the diagnostic interface (looks like event 457 is where I had the bike drop power):

Code: [Select]
456      391733     108:48:53  Enabled by Kickstand switch
 457      392581     109:03:01  Software Reset
 458      392581     109:03:01  Contactor Coil Error       coilmeas  = 0 mv, coilapplied = 0, pack = 0 mv, code = 15
 459      392581     109:03:01  Self Test Failed
 460      392581     109:03:01  Key On (normal reset)
 461      392581     109:03:01  Enabled by Killswitch
 462      392581     109:03:01  Low Speed Switch           pos = OFF
 463      392666     109:04:26  Disabled by Kickstand switch
 464      392666     109:04:26  Key On (normal reset)
 465      392666     109:04:26  Enabled by Killswitch
 466      392666     109:04:26  Low Speed Switch           pos = OFF
 467      392668     109:04:28  Disabled by Kickstand switch
 468      392762     109:06:02  Enabled by Kickstand switch
 469      392811     109:06:51  Disabled by Kickstand switch
 470      392862     109:07:42  Enabled by Kickstand switch
 471      393916     109:25:16  Disabled by Kickstand switch
 472      394073     109:27:53  Enabled by Kickstand switch

Is there anything that can trigger a software restart?

As a side note, it seems that I have a bunch of CANBUS errors throughout the log where it says CANBUS Connection Error, and CANBUS connection restored with the same timestamp, and occasionally when I connect via the diagnostic connector the bike the mbb crashes (quits responding in terminal) and the fuel gauge on the dash goes blank.

I don't know what events might trigger a software reset on an MBB, apart from resetting it by hand via the terminal.

The canbus errors might trigger a software reset. The only canbus connection is going to the battery, via the multipin connector. I would check that connector first.
