SR/F - Estimated Power Pack Life to 80%
« on: May 14, 2020, 02:46:51 AM »

Hi

The SR/F Owners-Manual states the follwoing:

Estimated Power Pack Life to 80% (city) : 217,000 miles (349,000 km).

Just to be sure to understand this correctly:
Zero estimates that one can drive 217,000 miles on an SR/F in "stop-and-go" operation typically found in urban areas, until the capacity is down to 80%.

Correct?

City range is two to three times further than freeway speed.  So if you were running in freeway speed you'd expect half as many total miles in the lifetime of the battery.

I don't think it matters so much how the miles are used, rather that as the usable capacity drops the highway range will be more affected than the city range. Thus you may end up with say 78% highway range after 217k miles but city range would still be above 80%.

There are many things that factor into the life of a battery pack. Temperature, time, state of charge, charge/discharge rate, charge/discharge frequency, etc. This is probably best case scenario and means that if you follow your manual carefully you should get up to 217 000 miles before capacity at certain discharge rate is down to 80%. It does not mean that your battery has that capacity under all conditions.

Just to be sure to understand this correctly:
Zero estimates that one can drive 217,000 miles on an SR/F in "stop-and-go" operation typically found in urban areas, until the capacity is down to 80%.

It's not going to be best case scenario, otherwise Zero wouldn't put it in the battery warranty because most people wouldn't meet it. It will be a "mean time before failure", an average use case.
