I think this behavior is quite common...my bike shows a consistent +30degF on motor temp relative to ambient after sitting overnight, and I believe I've read that others see similar behavior. 

I checked my 3 temperatures today & found them to be within 6°f of each other (2016 DSR).

Is your motor pre-IPM? I know the IPM motors are meant to run cooler but the different construction could affect the temperature reading in some way.

AFAIK, it's IPM. Thought all 2017s and beyond where IPM

I know mine and Cessna's are IPM, it was introduced in 2016 but I'm not sure if it was immediate for all 2016 models.

I had work today so got a chance to get out on the bike, motor temp got up to 160°F with ambient temps around 70-75. It was only about a 10 minute ride, mostly 35mph or below with a short stint between 60-75mph (less than a minute) so it doesn't take much to get the temps up. Unfortunately I forget to get my thermometer on the motor after getting home.
