I installed the peg lowering kit on my SR/F last night. It took about 45 minutes (most of that time modifying a set of needle nose pliers to work on the spring clips). I took a quick ride after and it makes a surprisingly big difference (I already have bar risers). I can't wait to take a longer ride to really test them out. Some quick pointers if you are doing this yourself:
- Get some really fine tip pliers for the spring clips (I am sure there is a specific tool for this, but pliers worked)
- Before inserting the springs, put in the peg and put the pin in just past the top hole. Then press in the spring and fully insert the pin.
- You can remove the brake mechanism from the bike (two screws) to make re-connecting the linkage on the brake pedal easier.
- Line up the spring on the brake pedal before connecting the linkage etc. Easier to do when it's free.
It's not a bad job, provided you don't launch the spring clips (can be fun finding them under your car in the garage, ask me how I know).
