2013 ds no start
« on: November 13, 2019, 06:31:29 AM »

Fully charged but when I bring up the kickstand it won't go. Still flashes like kill switch is engaged. I have turned on/off multiple times, kickstand up/down, flicked kill switch, tried sport/eco modes, moved bike back and forth, applied brakes.....I'm running out of ideas.

It did this a week ago right after I took it off charger but when I came back later it was fine. Chargers great so I'm at a loss.

Use the mobile app to get the logs, and email them to yourself, then upload them for a text output:
https://home.hasslers.net/zerologparser/log_parser.php

The logs should tell you what the MBB is thinking.

(For those who don't know, the 2013 dash doesn't show error codes. Also it doesn't have the Calex charger.)

Yes do what Brian said.
Just to test my own knowledge I'm going to guess it's your kickstand switch that's either loose or has gone bad.

That's what I was thinking also.

Doesn't the sidestand switch use light? If that's the case, perhaps the sidestand only needs cleaning where the light is detected.

The side-stand safety interlock switches have such a bad reputation on Royal Enfield motorcycles that most owners remove and bypass them shortly after the bike dies during their first long ride.   ::)

However, I will admit that I have never had that problem on any of my Zero's.  :)

I bypassed the sidestand switch on my 1984 Venture before it gave me any problems because I knew it gave others problems.

The bike mentioned here is a DS. That could mean it sees  more dirt than  your S, and if the SSS does work with light, it could be that simple of a problem.

It's magnetic.  There's a magnet in the stand, and hall effect or reed switch wired up.  See the wiring diagrams as well:

UPDATE

So of course last night I went down and there was no problem with the power....

On that note can anyone explain exactly where the magnet should go on the stand in case this happens again?

I don't have a bike I can go check for this, but basically the magnet needs to go into a little recessed hole on the inside facing the frame/swingarm pivot area. You'll see the sensor face outward.
