belt replacement
« on: September 27, 2019, 11:27:11 AM »

I am way over due for a belt replacement that I would like to do myself and am trying to plan everything out beforehand. I'm not quite sure how to remove the swingarm to get the belt on. I have a rear stand that lifts the rear from the bottom of the swingarm but don't think I could use that and I don't have a center stand. If I were to put the bike on a front wheel chock to stabilize the bike would I be able to use a floor jack underneath the charger to raise it?

Do you have a belt already?  I have two spares, I'd be willing to part with one cheap.

That's what I do but,
(A) I have a DSR & thus the aluminum skid plate to help spread the load.
(B) I attached a 9" round aluminum plate I had around to the floor jack so no nothing else is needed.

Loosening the standoff bolts is not needed for belt removal - you will be adjusting these for tension anyways later. Newer belts are looser I.D. than older belts I.D. so save time and do that adjustment after the new belt is on.
