I had a lenghty chat with the desigers at the reveal, got a lot of info from them.

I'm not going to share all but I can tell you the article (Ride Apart) in the OP is completly wrong. :o

Nice looking bike  :D not completly ready yet, details still to be done and it's going to be belt driven because that will be less noisy.

I agree with your observation.  How many of these new companies designing one-off electric motorcycle prototypes will actually make it to the mass consumer market?  It is a lot easier to design a new motorcycle than to actually manufacture more than a few, set up a factory, create a retail distribution, sales, parts and service operation, and keep building the vehicles for any length of time. Just ask Alta Motors how easy that is.  ::) Ultimately, it is all about money and you do need a lot of it to stay in business for any length of time. 

And to add insult to injury, there is nothing more fickle than the motorcycle consumer.  You never really know if they will buy enough of your products to keep the doors open.

Which brings up Lightning:  I wonder who is bankrolling them? And are there enough resources to keep their new manufacturing business viable for any length of time.  Considering that Lightning has been around for a number of years without selling much of anything, I wonder.   ???
