2016 SR – Support bike when removing tires
OK, it’s time to change tires on my 2016 SR. How is the best way to support the bike when removing the tires? It says the plastic pan is not made to support the bike.

Thanks

While the plastic pan may not be made to support the bike, I have found that it did do so when I changed my tires. But you are probably better off using a universal wheel stand as supporting the bike with both wheels off of the ground is potentially unstable unless you are very careful about securing the bike so that it will not fall over while you are changing the tires.

Attached is a photo of my 2012 Zero being supported by a Drag Specialties lift.

This is what I use.  The  Item #: BW-1604A

Also use it to check and adjust belt, etc.

Be sure to remember to hold the bike on the way down, just before the tires touch the ground, or . . .

Sucks that Zero put a plastic skid plate on the SR. My 2017 DSR has a heavy gauge steal plate that is easily lifted with a motorcycle/atv jack.

I've used the Black Widow shown above many times on my 2017 SR with Pwr Tank with no problems.

That's similar to what I have. Lift both ends at once or one at a time, and is very secure.

Talked to a Zero dealer, they said not to support the bike on the plastic pan, it could damage the chargers. So I use a bike stand under the swing arm for the back and ratchet straps around the handle bars for the front. Works perfect. Tires are off and being replaced by the bike shop.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions
