Linear Labs HET motor
« on: March 27, 2019, 08:45:36 PM »

Sounds promising for electric motorcycles - significantly higher torque and power with less size and weight. Also more efficient. And it doesn’t appear to be vaporware.

Just about every battery announcement IS vaporware.

It certainly seems that way, especially to the average electric power enthusiast who would like to purchase one of those new battery designs that never seem to make it to the consumer market.  :(

Oh ye of little faith.  Haven't they given us 2170s and 32ah pouch cells?
Did they stop at regular capacitors?  No they made ultra capacitors.

Wouldn't a battery which has dissimilar metals not prefer dissimilar electrolytes?  I say who knows but it sounds good.
By doubting this advancement your siding with the pro dendrites crowd.

(joking of course, but this does seem like a simple bridge solution that's worth a try to see what the negative trade offs may be.)

When I say vaporware I don’t mean that it will never come to market, only that it is a long way from that and may never make it. Battery technology especially seems to require a very long time to get from lab to market.

Another report on the HET motor. High torque at low RPM is said to be one of its features.

Who wouldn’t want a cheaper electric motor with twice the torque and 10% better efficiency?

Sounds perfect for a Navy torpedo motor.   ;)
