Hi Everyone,

I have my deposit down on an Energica EVA 107, but I'm banging my head against the wall trying to find insurance. I've been with Progressive for 11-years, and Allstate for 17-years before that with no lapse in coverage. I have a clean record, and I've been married nearly 26-years. That all being said, Progressive doesn't know what to do with an Energica, Geico doesn't know what to do with an Energica, AAA doesn't know what to do with an Energica <bangs head against wall>

Who has an Energica insured in this forum? Who insured it for you? What are you paying?

I would appreciate any help, before frustration takes over, and I simply pull my deposit, and wait to see if Energica even makes it. The insurance companies don't seem to think they will, because no one even has Energica on the radar.

My suggestion is to contact the U. S. Energica distributor and ask them for their help. I have talked to their senior staff at the EV show in San Mateo, CA, last month and they seem very knowledgeable and helpful.  I am sure that they wouldn't want any of their customers to not be able to register their motorcycles because they couldn't purchase insurance.

Thank you Richard230, ...but I've already spoken with one of their lead staff here on the West coast who seemed to think no problem existed, in addition to emailing the CEO of Energica directly. Not surprisingly, ...no posts have yet made it to this thread with any insurance information at all. The fact that the two largest motorcycle insurers in the U.S. don't cover the brand is proof enough that a logistics hole exists somewhere. I would have thought Energica as a company would have looked into this ahead of time, and provided major carriers with the information necessary to insure potential clients. Leaving it all on the client alone, ...thats just a poor business decision for a new brand trying to make it in the U.S.

Nonetheless, thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

One other comment that I can make is that my dealings with Progressive, who have been insuring my electric motorcycles since I bought my 2009 Electric Motorsport GPR-S that year (a $5 a year premium as they classified it with a 1cc engine size) is that your insurance broker may not know what to do, but I have always had good luck calling their main countywide 1-800 number.

That is strange, I insured an Alta Redshift Super Moto last September, this was the first year for this bike and Alta had never had a street legal bike up to that point, Geico figured it out but my annual premium was around $500 which wasn't cheap imo.

I have mine through Progressive. But it is one of four bikes and not sure right now how much mine went up when I added my Eva to it.

I added to my Geico policy. They didn't have the bike in their system, but figured it out in a 20 minute phone call.

My motorcycle insurance is through Safeco in Colorado, and they did not have any clue who Energica was or what an EVA 107 was. Even with comprehensive coverage and collision, it only added an additional $200-ish to my annual insurance bill, so not bad at all.

So bringing this one up again.  I added the bike to my Progressive insurance which I thought made everything all good.  When my bill went up $2, I started to dig.  Looks like it is just liability insurance.  I contacted them to make it full coverage and they said they can't do it since it is classified as an "electric scooter".  He said they don't have enough info.

So, anyone else have full coverage on their Energica?

You might want to check with an Energica dealer. Most motorcycle shops are into financing and when you do that you need full coverage insurance so they probably know who sells it.  ???  Alternately, contact the Energica importer directly. I have met their staff and they seem very knowledgeable and helpful.   :)

Thanks. Looks like State Farm will cover around here.  They also suggested Dairyland though I had issues just getting a quote. They don't have Energica in their drop down menu but based on the list of manufacturers (Zero, Confederate, etc) I would guess they could draw up a policy.
