My newspaper today contained a long article regarding the Electra Meccanica, single-passenger, three-wheel, fully enclosed electric cycle car that looks remarkable similar to the old Corbin Sparrow. It is made in Canada and is claimed to have a top speed of 82 mph, a range of 100 miles and a 0-60 mph time of eight seconds. What was very surprising though, is that it sells for only $15,500.  The Bloomberg.News article says that Electra Meccanica has $2.4 billion in pre-orders for the vehicle.

This has been pitched to me on Youtube ads a number of times. I am unsure how solid this marketing campaign is - $2.4B / $15.5k implies 155,000 pre-orders at full price.

I can't imagine how that would materialize. 155,000 newsletter signups for a pre-production EV would still be unbelievable.
