I think you will be amazed how simple the job is and how well it works.

I will be off line for a few days--I am going on a backpacking trip in the mountains. But I am sure you will have no problem getting the job done. But I would look for that one Stanley bracket as that is the one that lines up just perfectly. Sort of a weird coincidence how I just happened to have two of those and they are perfect as is, with where the holes are located, etc. for this job.

I should be back on line in about four days.  And thank you for your work on the Unofficial Service Manual.

If you have trouble finding the pins, for now, just use a 2.5" or 3" bolt with a nut on the end.

No, I've been insanely busy. I can barely think to document the hacks I have done.

I  need to  mention that I just discovered that the hinge sold on Amazon is NOT the correct one and will NOT work.   That Amazon hinge is a much larger hinge and the pin to separate the pieces cannot be removed.

And it looks  the hinge  I used is  NLA.

Hopefully somebody can find a hinge or something else that will work. The mod is certainly worth doing.

So far, I have not found any other hinges that will work. But the most important thing is find a fence hinge of medium size where the hinge pin can easily be removed so both parts of the hinge can be separated. And from there, perhaps you can bend it a bit or  do whatever is necessary to make it fit.

I found a hinge that will work for the seat quick-release mentioned here.  It has  the removable pin and is the correct size.

It's the National Hardware N165-480.
