Customize Zero S (French Owner)
« on: January 29, 2022, 09:00:47 PM »

Hello All  :)
I'm a Zero S 14.4 2018 owner, in France, and I really enjoy it, except its "look", that I find very dull...
There is not much Customized Zero on the road, and it looks difficult to find parts.

I saw on the net that some U.S companies had done some nice tuning on those machines, replacing for example the "tank" with a much more simpler tank that looks like an old BMW tank. This already changes the look a lot...

I'd like to change a couple of things includind the tank, the headlight, replace the dashboard with the new one (the one equiping the SR/S), put a small windscreen... Maybe change the seat also......

Did anyone on this forum changed the look of his?

Thanks a lot!!

this will be maybe a less optimistic opinion, but I would not spend money on altering the appearance of the motorcycle. It would even further decrease the already low resale value of the bike and you will need that money on replacement parts as those are very expensive. Sooner or later those will start to fail on you. For example a main bike board is 2000e, the battery probably around 9000e, charger around 1000e, etc.

If you are tired of it, just sell it and buy one, that fits you. ;)

Hello Sharagan, thanks for quick response.
I Know that those modifications will be expensive, especialy for a "home made" tank, but if I keep all the original parts for a resale, maybe the price will be the same as a non-modified bike...
And concerning the durability of the bike, I thought that the battery could last "a long time"... It sure looses a bit of power with time, but it's minimal...

And in France, except with Zero, there is not much Electric motorcycles for sale... And none with the NEO RETRO or scrambler, or cafe racer style i'm looking for...
I like the new zeros SR/S and SR/F but I can't afford one of these... and my Zero S works so well!!!!

The 2022 models have a dash styled similarly to the SR/F and SR/S, although functionally it's no better. If you can manage to get hold of one (AF1 doesn't seem to have them yet) it may be a simple swap. The headlight should be fairly easy as there are many universal ones that clamp to the fork uppers although it won't look as well integrated with the dash. Corbin also make seats that you can customise to some extent.

I changed the headlight in my 2016 DSR only because I had too.
The Chrome reflective surface was starting to fall off so the original headlight had to be replaced.
Rather then replacing with stock I upgraded to this https://www.jwspeaker.com/blog/new-led-motorcycle-headlight-adapative/?utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=Motorcycle&utm_source=adwords&utm_term=headlight%20lights&hsa_src=g&hsa_kw=headlight%20lights&hsa_ad=435008133258&hsa_tgt=kwd-295683465773&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&hsa_grp=26485440277&hsa_mt=b&hsa_cam=378238237&hsa_acc=3686371683&gclid=Cj0KCQiAi9mPBhCJARIsAHchl1xIju1ZySv9DSq1OKf5I6aS-uHB1dGozfHRwEp16Mrutx0t7UEtX-YaApZzEALw_wcB

I cut out enough of the stock housing to allow the new light to become integrated into the stock assembly so all the wireing connections are still protected & unseen.
It looks stock so not what your after.

I wouldn't say that looks particularly close to the stock light. Do you have any photos of it on your bike? I'm particularly interested in how hidden the wires are from the side, I have quite a few tucked behind my headlight.

I carved out approximately 5.75” of the stock headlight so the 8690 (5.75”) light integrates with the stock housing.

I don’t have a means of posting images to this site but if you PM me with an email address I can send images.

Oh right, I wasn't sure if it comes with some sort of enclosure. That's a good idea considering your stock headlight was messed up however I'd want to keep mine as a backup.

Hi everybody,
Here's the modified zero I saw, and that I'd like to imitate (except that I'd like to keep the 2 seats)... We can see that there is a new round headlight with a little windshield...

Personally, I by far prefer the stock Zero to any of the customized versions I've seen. I suppose the cafe racer style just isn't my thing.
