Ergonomic differences 2017 DS and S?
« on: November 08, 2017, 12:33:53 AM »

The local dealer has some good prices on 2017 models, the DS 13.0 and the S ZF13.0. I'm anxious to test drive them but I have family visiting and, even more limiting, we just had about 4" of snow and the roads are icy. I think I understand the differences in these models, like tires, suspension, but I'm wondering about rider ergos. Are the both the same in that way? Upright riding position, etc? Any info appreciated!

The DS seat is a little higher, and I think the handlebars are bent up so you can sit more upright.

Handlebars and wheels are the main differences.  And corresponding kickstand length.

So, you can tuck more on an S/SR or also sit upright.  Seat height is higher on DS/DSR and range is lower (bigger tires and more upright position give you more wind resistance).

DS(R) also has different suspension springs.

The S and DS feel identical in posture to me without taking a measuring tape to things, other than the ride height and also the suspension dynamics through a turn (the S is noticeably more hands-off steady through a turn). Adding 2-in handlebar risers made a great improvement in ergo on my DSR.

There's a wiki article just on this, even if it needs improvement: https://zeromanual.com/index.php/Ergonomics
