Hi from Derby England
« on: November 26, 2009, 09:41:32 PM »

I am currently a petrol bike rider ( Triumph Rocket ). I am wanting to buy a dual sport electric bike in the future and I am interested ina anybodies thoughts about the development of these bikes.

A question is there a bike with the following

1) Speed faster than 60 mph
2) Range of 75 miles

I think the KTM electric bike looks great but it has got to be able to do the above kind of numbers for me to live with it on English Roads

75miles, at least 8-9kwh of energy on board.... so start saving for batteries... they'll cost about $5k plus BMS/charger, then there's another 2-3k for motor and controller.... plus chassis, plus DC-DC converter, plus contactor, cables, battery rack/motor mount fabrication, rear sprocket, front sprocket, chain, gauges, throttle.......

60mph+, maybe go with AC to start with.... or dual agni's.

you can do it, but you'll spend a lot getting the 75miles range, and I mean, the bike (and everything) will cost over $10k

Theres nothing ive heard of with that kind of speed and range check out the Quantya, Ekrad, or zero websites or talk to peacehaven in the UK http://jozzbikes.co.uk/PHEV/electric_motorbikes/conversions.php
I figure your not looking to build one
