No charge no error
« on: June 08, 2017, 07:37:46 PM »

So I got all ready for work this morning, turned on my 2015 FX, and saw only 25% charge (?). Figured I would just beg the powers that be to let me charge at work. But first, plug it back in and make sure there is nothing wrong. Green charge light blinks, then goes out, then nothing. Dash shows 25%, time to charge still 0 and no charge light. 😢

Do you have an accessory charger you can test through the charge port like the Elcon, Delta Q, or Diginow supercharger?  It sounds like the onboard charger is the issue, but charging through the accessory port would confirm that its not the bike opening the contactor to prevent charge from some reason.

Not only are fast chargers a great way to be able to travel far, but they make a great backup if the onboard Green Watt Power (Calex) charger fails as right now it seems to be the most failure prone component on the Zero bikes since 2015.

No off board charger here. After work I'll have to pore over the logs. A quick glimpse this morning looks like there was a lot going on last night.

Got a voltage meter (and know how to safely use it - caution over 30V is potentially lethal!) ?  Aux port should have system voltage approx 99Vdc guessing from the log data, when the bike is keyed on and contactor is engaged. If you do see system voltage then you can say the charge fuse is good, also that you can use an external unit to charge the battery while you figure out what's wrong with the onboard.

Don't have an external charger or a quick one nearby to borrow. Bike seems fine in running mode, except won't run with only one power pack, contactor error. (Too low?) Key on to run mode, plug in, 0015 error. Key off, after a couple of minutes plugged in it gives up and gives 2-1 blink error code, then just single blinking. Key on now, 0025 error. I think I have a bad charger.

My dealer owns a 2015 FX and is having similar trouble. She thinks it's a common thing and that the recall should have covered more. She loaned me her quick charger and will get me in next weekend to work on it. I'm sad that it's broken :( , but happy that I can ride in the meantime :D .

(At the very same time as my onboard charger stopped working, the power supply in my desktop PC died. That I understand, can diagnose, and repair easily and inexpensively. Wish I could just order a new onboard charger and swap it out myself.)
