XU 2011 battery connector & BMS question
« on: April 15, 2017, 05:09:10 AM »

Hi all,

I just got a zero xu 2011 without the battery. I am plannig to rebuild the battery with a non-Zero BMS and I was wondering if it would work. The main battery connector has four small wires in addition to the two main battery wires. I think the four small wires go to the MBB to stop the bike from running in case of battery issues.

Thanks in advance [emoji3]

Hey Honey Badger
I have 2011 MX and Id like to know the same thing you are asking. If you figure it out can you let me know? I am thinking my board is bad and my warranty is ran out. If its possible to replace the board your self Id do the same thing. Im not sure what board to use tho. Also would it not require some kind of programming to work right with the bike? Im not sure But I am trying to understand how these bikes work so i can fix things my self.. I have not found much info for my bike online however.

@boytitan

not sure if you were replying to me or to Thylacine.

I do not have the original battery, so I do not have the original Zero BMS.

From my understanding, I can build a new battery using a Non-Zero BMS but I would have to rewire the controller to bypass the MBB (the MBB will be completely excluded from the wiring). I probably would have to reprogram the Alltrax controller (it does seem easy from what I found online) as well.

BUT, I would prefer to use the current configuration (MBB still in use and not bypassed) so if someone know what those four wires in the pictures do, I can probably figure out something to make it work. I am ASSUMING two of the wires are for power (+5/+12v) and the other two are for signal to stop the bike is the BMS is detecting an anomaly.

Have a great weekend  8)
