Hey folks,
  A few of you have had the motor upgrade to the 2013/2014 motor , I had my motor replaced last Oct. under warranty after experiencing a variety of  glitches with the motor that couldn't be resolved. I've been experiencing overheating at 65-70 mph ever since with the new motor, red light on the console and the bike slows itself down. Have any of you guys experienced this and if so how was it remedied ?
  As an example, riding in 60 F  ambient temp. , only two minutes at 70 mph and the temp light comes on, two more minutes at this speed and the bike is speed controlling.  As the days are warming up the problem is getting worse.

That is probably normals the 2012 Zero has only 66 volts battery voltage and the motor has no fan or dealer the bike adjusted to safe

Ask replacement of the 28T sproket on the motor by the 30T.. this should help. I did that on my 2012 with the 75-7 motor and it solved the problem.. however the 75-7 motor i have is the one for the 2013 and not the modified version for the 66V battery.

My neighbor experienced this on his 2012 DS recently while we were riding together on the interstate (me on my 2015 DS). He has the 2013 motor upgrade as well. We were probably going around 70mph on a slight uphill when it happened. Suddenly he slowed down to around 60mph and couldn't speed up. We just got off the interstate and rode back roads for a while. I don't think he rides at those speeds much. He's more of a dirt rider. I think it was around 75F ambient.

My 2015 DS does the same thing, but at a higher speed theshold. For 70F ambient temp, on a flat, it happens around 80-85 mph. Going uphill for a few minutes it'll happen at a lower speed threshold, 75-80mph. Helps keep me from getting speeding tickets on my interstate commute

That is really curious.. i am using the 2013 motor upgrade on my 2012 S setup and even i'm using 55% more current with the size 6.. and never got any temp light.. motor remain toutchable...

Probably that it is not well commissioned... when the dealer replace it, that 75-7 4 turn motor  MUST be timmed properly otherwise it will heat more..

Even 1 degree of error on the timing can have significant impact!

Thanks for the replies folks, this gives me something to discuss with Zero, is there anyway to tell if its the motor or the controller that is overheating and is the timing adjustment anything I can adjust in my garage with a lap top connected ?  Is there anything an owner can do at home to adjust programing of the bike or to look at settings ? 
  The closest dealer to me is now a 12 hour round trip, It would be great if I can start to work on this machine myself somehow.
