Zero fx onboard charger question
« on: July 14, 2016, 11:15:32 PM »

What is the onboard charger? I remember reading somewhere it is two mean well 325w units? Does anyone have the part number. I want to build an offboard charger to "quick charge" while camping and still staying within the limits of my 1600w continuous generator and without spending $600 for 1300w of charging. I could just double the current rate and be happy. I have little to no use for faster charging outside of camping where there is no electricity. Thanks

The onboard charger is gwp 1200w. But you should be able to use any charger that delivers the nessesary voltage and at a apropriate  current.

The onboard charger is gwp 1200w.

The S/SR/DS/DSR have a 1300w charger.  The FX/FXS have 650w charger.  FX uses a pair of meanwell HLG-320H LED controllers in parallel.

There are a lot of threads about DIY charging solutions on the cheap.  Here are a couple:

I've another correction for the wiki:

Beginning with MY15, the FX/FXS models do also use a GWP charger, the GWP720 to be precise. You can find it here:

http://www.greenwattpower.com/720evc.html

Those two Meanwells used before were actually in series, not parallel.

That is what my 2015 FX 5.7 has in it. You can just make out the numbers by looking past the steering head.

GWP do a 1.2kW version of that charger. Unfortunately not the same size, because that would have been a neat little upgrade.

Yes, the 1.2kW version is the one used on S/DS/etc models. It's the one most on this forum are familiar with.
