Bultaco are here!
« on: July 15, 2016, 05:32:02 AM »

Can I ask the moderators if we can start a section for the Bultaco Brinco as they have started selling this year and have done over 1000 bikes now .

With all due respect, the Brinco is an electric bicycle and this forum is for electric motorcycles.

Bultaco is a heritage motorcycle brand first and foremost.
I can understand why you might think that, but if you look deeper at it and the spec you will see that It is road legal With lights, horn and road registration and hence it should be classed as an Electric Motorcycle and therefore eligible for inclusion on this forum in my opinion. It is hoped to benefit from the Government grant in time too. It also has an independent twist grip throttle which makes it distinct from " pedelec " type bicycles which require movement from the riders legs to activate the assisted drive. It might not be at the top end of speed and power but it is a useful introduction to the world of electric motorcycles for young people, females and those on a budget who do not come from traditional motorcycling backgrounds. Hope that clarifies the situation.

It has a permanent, integral motor and two wheels in the typical arrangement so it qualifies as a motorcycle if you ask me. Even if others disagree, where's the harm?

Most "Bultaco" posts in "Other Electric Motorcycles" was 2014.

I'd hope in addition to classification (and it is an "electric mountain bike") that forum traffic also indicates when a Section is created.

So I'll side with not creating a Section just yet on the lack of tangible forum traffic, and classification.

I do like the catchy video... from 2015.

on one hand... its sold as a motorcycle.

on the otherhand, its a bunch of off the shelf electric bike parts.  It is straight up a normal electric bike that 1000s of homebuilders would do. It even has pedals.
Not all e-bikes require pedaling. most homebuilds and kits use a throttle.

but if it has a VIN, its a vehicle.

I think it would be better served on a site like endless-sphere.com but I wouldnt argue if it was added.

I will point out the ad video does have them on bicycle trails, and wearing bicycle helmets though....

as far as the brand/name... Honda makes more motorcycles every year than anyone else, but if they made this.. it would still be an electric bike. The brand has no change on what it is.
