Zero SR 2016 OBD-II interface
« on: December 22, 2020, 02:35:22 AM »

Has anyone had any experience trying to get OBD information out of their Zero?

I'm trying to get the throttle position out of my 2016 Zero SR

I bought one of these - https://freematics.com/products/freematics-obd-ii-uart-adapter-mk2/
And I supplied power to pin 16 of the OBD port as by default it has now power.

I've been trying the test program with an Arduino (changed the PID to PID_THROTTLE rather than PID_RPM) but can't even get the thing to initialise. It just fails no matter what I try.

I even tried plugging in one of those bluetooth OBD2 dongles. It powered up and my phone could talk to the dongle, but it wouldn't sync with the bike.

On the other hand, I've been able to get a serial connection to the MBB via the OBD port, but this doesn't directly offer the information I require.

Is it just that the OBD port on the Zero is not really wired up for regular OBD comms?
