You're all going off on extreme tangents. I'm looking for a BASIC SERVICE manual, NOT a basic owner's manual. I already have one of those, and it does NOT include a basic wiring diagram, nor does it include where the relays are installed and what they control. I don't give a **** about reprogramming anything on the bike beyond what is already available in the smartphone app. But I WOULD like to know which wires in the harness connect to which bulbs and what relays control which circuits. I don't think that should be a deep, dark, corporate secret... it is basic ownership and servicing knowledge.
You know what else would be helpful? TORQUE SPECS when removing or tightening bolts! This is all basic stuff that would be in a basic service manual along with part numbers so I'd know what I'd need and what to order.
Exactly!
And since its "so much simpler" than a normal bike, it should be very short.
Since I have it here at work, here are a few screenshots of my 749 Ducati manual, Hawk GT manual, and CBR1000 manual. I wish I had the CR500 manual here, but its in paperback instead of PDF... although I could probably find it online with a google search.
I will only include a page or two from each with the kind of info I would expect with any service manual.
Simple things like:
removing fairing bits. This isnt even a great manual. its a shit Italian superbike manual with no details.
fork maintenance. basic things like free length of the spring and torque specs are included
the proper routing of wires. SIMPLE but important stuff. this is how to hold the wires with the fasteners on a Honda.
the wiring diagram that has NOTHING to do with powertrain, its just how the entire rest of the bike works. this is from a 26+ year old bike BTW, not some modern thing. Theres an ignition box, but no EFI or anything like that.
