I'm going to look (and possibly buy) a 2016 FXS ZF 6.5 with 3000 miles.  It looks (from the pics) to be in nice shape -- never down.  Is there anything I should be concerned about?  Recalls?  Warranty work that I should make sure was done?

Not really much to check. Maybe look at the belt and as long as it’s not missing chunks or cracked, it’s probably fine.

Thanks.  Will do.  Not having ever owned an electric vehicle of any type, I'm a bit at a loss to "check it out."    :o

The Unofficial Zero Manual ( https://zeromanual.com/ ) is a handy reference. Go through the dash and look for any error codes and then look the numbers up in the manual, some are to be expected like 44 and 45 (for the kickstand and kill switch). If the seller doesn't mind download the app and pair your phone with the bike and then download the logs, send them to your own email address or Google Drive and then upload them to this parser https://zero-motorcycle-community.github.io/browser-parse/zero-log-parser.html , then do a search through them for words like "error" and "fault", then look it up in the manual to see if it's anything serious.

Oops.  It sold.  It had been on the market a while.  I waited too long, I guess.

Thanks for the tips.  I made notes of them.

I'm sure another used Zero will pop up on the market in my area . . .

QUESTIONS:

 - What is the battery life?  I'm sure it depends not only on time but mileage . . .
 - Let's say the battery in a 2016 FXS ZF 6.5 goes bad, what can I expect to pay for a new battery?

-We don't know.  There are five year old batteries going strong (like mine), but some have crapped out earlier.  The warranty is five years, so a 2016 should still have a battery warranty.
-Battery replacements seem to run pretty high.  We've seen a few prices quoted, like $5k.

$5K for a battery.  That's pretty steep but I guess understandable.  I wasn't going to be paying much more than that for the whole bike.  Whew!

FX FXS modules were listed at around $2800 each. The monoliths would be more as they are just these bricks combined.

I guess when you figure that the rolling frame is worth maybe half the value of the bike and the battery + electric motor is the other half, then it makes sense that the battery would cost maybe a quarter of the value of the bike . . .

Thanks guys.  I'll be on the lookout for another Zero -- I have been for several years now . . .
