2010 "S" won't charge
« on: August 21, 2015, 08:21:39 PM »

I've been through a number of chargers from Zero, with a variety of error messages. Now it appears that the battery voltage has dropped enough that the charger will not "boot up." Is there a work around here?
Controller was replaced at Great Bay Motorcycles in NH last fall, had one ride, and then would not charge. Otherwise, everything checked out good.

I don't know of a good way to do this that isn't manual. You may have to break the battery down, check each cell to determine which cells are weak, and then try to trickle-charge those cells with a constant current supply, preferably around 0.1C. The cells are around 2600 mAh, so I would try for about 250 mA.

Even then you may have some cells that are simply failed .. the Molicel cells don't seem to hold up very well.

I know this is an old post and late in the discussion.  It is just that I was getting a low battery, two flash warning on my 2010 DS and thought "oh, another problem", until I realised that I stupidly, hadn't switched the main power back on... The manual just says with two flashes, low battery and to unplug and try again in 15 seconds... It should also say check that you switched the bike on at the main switch on the side... If there was a fault in that switch, it would mimic charger problems, just a thought...

Sorry to bring up an old thread but may I ask what main switch you are talking about? I just bought a 2011 S and is having the same problem.
Thank you
