Concepts, concepts, concepts.  I'm tired of all these concepts.  When are we going to see EV motorcycle production announcements from one of the big guys?

They be crazy not too, people expect new tech from BMW, their electric scooter has been a huge success as well as electric cars.
They have a lot of knowledge and engineering experience but most of all money they can call on.

If the electric scooter was such a success then why is this just a concept.

Concepts are great....where's the production version? I would love to see them bring their engineering expertise to bear on the electric motorcycle market! I don't understand why they won't do it already.

BMW needs to quit teasing already and put out.

BMW is selling lots of their scooters in europe, its not a concept. There are forum members that own them and very happy with them.
It takes time to R&D and also market has to be ready to accept the product. BMW will not be doing low volume like Zero or Brammo/Victory, when they commit it be mass production.
I am sure all the main motorcycle manufactures are making plans, Even Harely Davidson created the Livewire to test customer feedback , but no production for sales.

All manufacturers go through concept to prototype to production. Concepts are needed to see if the public and techies like the product. Often the concept is not shown to the public, but for every model, car or bike, concepts are made. BMW are using this one to see what the public's reaction will be. If the public is interested, they move to prototype. So if you don't see concepts, you'll not see new bikes, unless i's been well hidden with little customer input, and we all know what that bike will look like, right?

It's interesting to see a big manufacturer going all out now for electric. Beemer has plenty of experience now to do it right.

Well, they are getting a lot of press mileage out of their electric concept models. Pick your choice.  Do you want an IC boxer-looking motor EV or an inline IC-looking electric motor sportbike? I am seeing a trend here.   

When it comes to the press picking up their new concept motorcycles, BMW does a lot better than Zero.  It must have something to do with money.     I think BMW is just worried about the size of the world-wide market and what it will take for their dealers to embrace the new technology, which I am sure is a big issue for them.  Here are more articles about the S1000RR chassis EV.

I heard a report that in ten years all BMW platforms would be electric or hybrid because the Euro air restrictions were choking them out.  Their gear ratio looks a lot different than my Zero. It also seems to have a lot of empty space that wouldn't make a production bike.  I'll be looking for the specs on it when they come out.

I would like to know where they are hiding the battery pack and what that clutch lever is used for.   

The bike was introduced when they did the G310R unveiling.  I bet it's assembly was rushed to meet that deadline.

Very true.  But even more so for cruiser riders.  Reving the engine when stopped and listening to windows rattle and children crying seems to be a favorite thing for this group of IC enthusiasts.
