2015 National Drive Electric Week Events
« on: April 05, 2015, 09:54:27 AM »

I just received a reminder from my local Flux Moped dealer (shameless plugin plug) that it is time to start registering for the September 2015 Drive Electric events.

https://driveelectricweek.org/

The registration dragdown includes recognition of Brammo, Lightning, Vectrix, Zero and all the four wheelers. - so please try to represent your ride.

I just registered for the Cupertino event.  What is a "Zero truck" (one of the EV choices)?

I'll be at the Davis Whole Earth Festival on Saturday, May 9th with my '15 SR. There will be a bunch of EVs there including Teslas, BMW i3s, etc.

They cancelled our participation! After planning (for months) to advocate for EVs at the Whole Earth Festival the festival organizers decided at the last minute that the EV display would take up too much space! I got a call while I was riding my Zero SR to Davis. So much for Davis' 'Green Image'!
Sorry if any of you went there looking for Evs....

I dropped https://wef.ucdavis.edu/  a note on their "Contact Us" page, maybe the EV magnetic fields screws with their aura readings.

Was surrounded by Zeros at the May 10th event!  (In multibike picture: Zero DS, Zero S, Brammo Empulse R, Zero SR.)  I'm told that the white Zero SR will be featured in a news article soon.

@MichaelJ  —  I saw your Brammo Empulse-R at the Brammo dealer in Seattle about three weeks back...I stopped in to see how many Brammo's they had left in their showroom, and the sales manager mentioned that the "eye-catching Brammo" (my words) was a customer's ride.  Such a small world indeed !!

Also, a friend of mine who is originally from Sweden and who I've rode with some in the past, has a new 2015 Zero SR, which is white; it's a very clean machine.

He now lives in Seattle on a large sailboat, but used to live nearby here in Redmond.
Wondering if that was him at the event with you.  Too Much Fun Going Electric !!

Hello MotoRyder!  Nice to (indirectly) meet you.  Yes, our mutual friend is seen in the video link I just posted.

Indeed!  Glad to know of more people in the Seattle area interested in e-motorcycling!

Besides my bike, Seattle E-Bike recently received a black Brammo Empulse  R for sale on consignment for $13,999.

That said, last week brought some unfortunate news of a fire at their store.  Everyone is safe.  I don't know how much of their stock survived, or if they would not already be too busy with recovering from the fire to be able to sell you that black Empulse R if it did.

Good news: the store will be reopening is doors, offering discounts on its stock, and extending their warranties by one year!  Check their web site and give them a call if anything strikes your fancy.  For example, the black Empulse R that was for sale.

Very nice showing in Madison Wisconsin.
We had the block right next to the Farmers Market - so the crowd was an easy draw.
We also ran opposite "Fighting Bob Fest" which was several blocks away - pulling some of the Green crowd away from our downtown location.

The Electric Cars looked sharp and dominated the show - my photo makes the same commentary... you can see part of my Zero through the windshield.
At least I earned "motorcycles" a mention in the promo video - .

I met a very interested and diverse group of people that I'd be happy to meet again.
Very few just 15-20% admitted not knowing EV motorcycles as a commodity.
A solid third knew EV motorcycles - from Long time Brammo awareness to a recent but detailed LiveWire knowledge.
A few lit up faces - "A Zero!" with a hurried rush over.
Isle of Man TT was a solid common ground. Lucky I watched the last few years.
Followers of Terry and Ben's journeys demonstrated awareness of Electric Motorcycles "out there".
Our local "Flux Moped" who also co-sponsored and their riders didn't marvel at the prospective power of the SR (who needs that). A few wanted a trike by someone to enter the marketplace.

Of course there was all the questions I did not know - or just forgot at the moment. Smartphones to the rescue!

The Zero - being a production bike, with established performance stats represented great credibility in our niche, a few more would have helped.

New to be riders to long time riders - none walked away saying... "I'd rather get an electric car". I hope to see some of them next year.
