Going to 'settle' for 2014 Zero S 11.4- What am I giving up?
« on: September 10, 2015, 02:56:09 AM »

Going to take the $5000 trade on my 2010 Zero S and get a 2014 S 11.4. Throw some of the "give ups" at me. Try and give personal observations as well. Like the 2014 doesn't have Showa but if you've ridden both tell about how much difference you felt and so on. Thanks

And technically the 15s have slightly better rubber

All in all.  Shitting all over your 2010....
The old bikes are fun but no comparison to the 13 and newer platform.... It's like riding a "new" electric bike for the first time all over again.

You are also giving up 1kw/hr of extra battery - 2014 = 11.4, 2015 = 12.5

I'm happy with the fast ace suspension. I weigh 180 and get enough range of adjustment. I have not ridden the 2015 Showa but do have an Ohlins rear shock on my honda 919. Yes there is some stiction in front but just play with the settings. OEM tires are easy to replace. Id like to hear an unbiased review of the 2014 to 2015 suspension changes.

Honestly kinda a dumb question

Fast ace is not even comparable to Showa

Fast ace can be nice but showa is a huge company who supplies for the finest bikes..... It's a no brainer Showa is better.....

Just look at the shock your comparing something that tapers at the top 45/48mm to a full blown 49mm monster shock made for bikes that surpass the zero weight by a lot! Where the fast ace is basically maxed out for the ds.

13 and earlier bikes all use a socially the same forks so they would be stiff as shit on the fx soft on the ds because it's double the weight....
This is true of fx and ds
The s forks are slightly shorter etc
