First test ride with a modified fx
« on: November 15, 2014, 03:27:19 AM »

First test ride of a FX with sds motor (street S/SR) size 6 controller this is before I changed the front suspension, when it was hair ball with that sketchy front ds tire
Since has been upgraded and more pictures and videos to come

Still has the Eco and sport buttons LOL (has since been changed to "faster than fx and "O $h!t" switch)

That looks like a F#@king sick ride Cortezdtv!

Where did you find the parts were they from a doner SR or is there some way to buy them on the black market and did you sell a kidney to buy it ( not that you couldn't afford them only my cute way of saying were they expensive )

Sold a kidney for the controller got super lucky on eBay; paid a arm and leg but best move I ever made, had a freind help me with the other parts and mostly the tuning. I had everything I needed but the controller for a long while while I got told how much faster I could be, I didn't beleive for a long time, until I finished it, now I don't like riding a stock fx seems "less" controllable

I'll get some more videos soon

0-60 times didn't seem faster than an SR though  :o ... still crazy fast though, hot-rod'ed zeros are the best  8)

I need to get a better camera situation and do some 0-60 pulls to see how it compares. Sadly I don't have any roads where half the road has washed away and instead of fixing it they simply put two stop signs and some jersey walls up. ;)

Hard to launch :-[ not regulated 0 to 30  I'm barely 175 lbs I can't keep the front down at half to 1/4 throttle; compared to a pegged stock fx

That was first ride, since then I've ate a few Honda 600s
I can assure you I pull away from a fx easily I'll get a video comparing them
No doubt the sr is a beast but it's a big bike, I like the twisty turns bumpy motard stuff; each bike has its specific advantage mine is stoplight to stop light now since the front end is 20 lbs heavier with beefy suspension
Power to weight is unreal under 300 lbs  and well let's just say the app said 116ftlbs when I looked down from atop a wheelie; I know it's off by a little but I'm happy

I'll see if I can track down a local sr as well, or someone in r&d who has cahones there are a few fast guys that work there

How do you deal with battery current?

The MBB will send the allowed "max current from battery" to your Sevcon - in best situation 500A with both batteries - There for you will only get 660A at a lower speed than it will be limited to 500A.
I think it will be awesome in this way - BUT - as I see from the battery data sheet 500A is over the specs. Even the 420A are a bit more as in the data sheet. I hope to get a positive long-term feedback that it will not damage your battery ;)

I do like your project still thinking to do the same

I don't want to divulge to much
But let's just say mbb has been reprogrammed and as far as reliability as long as I have a strong battery that is balanced its fine the real dangerous part of my bike is I can pop fet boards if the heat is to great in the battery

We were told it "can't be done" all that had been remade with a size 6 have no restrictions and are race bikes, I have a series of hard and soft limits to protect the batteries and some of the original warnings etc

When they test batteries build charge discharge them they are put through a pretty rigorous test so right now I'm not too worried and if I can find another controller my go cart or other bike will fallow the light

Yes we limited the sevcon from the max; the 660 controller isn't just a 150 amps more than the 440.   The fx controller is a max 440 where the 660 can do that constantly so it has the potential to put over 140 ftlbs down constantly

So if I had a s or sr.   I would "double my tune".   And God damn it would be fun but as Ive probably said before I like the smaller bikes.

If your really curious message me and I'll give you a more in depth write up.

Just swap the packs out for high C lipo :D

This is where the super capacitors we have been promised for so long would come in very handy.

Mmmmm lipo.        So much work new cells new box new bms.   Yikes

If there was a lipo that could just clip in and bam 2x the reserve would be amazing, but they will make a upgraded module slide into the earlier bikes before the 13 (I beleive)

The bad experience I have all this wonderful new batteries have less "C". And also less as the % of capacity you will get more.

If you look all 2015 bikes have the newer cells and 10% more but not the FX. I believe you are not longer in a save area with the 10% more but maybe less "C".

But I also hope I can upgrade my FX once with enough C and a bit more distance - this would be awesome!

Thomas according to a very knowledge battery man i know that perfectly know the Zero battery... i think you know who ;), these zf2.8 pack can take up to 400A current eack, but it depend on the SOC !... at 75% soc and up you can draw 400A burst no prob.
