update 2013 DS problems
« on: June 30, 2015, 08:55:07 PM »

Talked to my dealer today turns out the lack of full charging, no regen for the first 10 miles, 24 hour charging to get 8 bars, charging at 10 amps 3 amps .24 amps in a 1 min cycle, too many warning lights to count, was caused by a bad BMS.  For everybody still under warranty if you have any of these problems or had to get a new BMS post it here.  I'm going to be out $800 since I'm JUST out of warranty.  Call me crazy but new adapter or not the second most important part of the bike should last longer than 2 years.  No wrecks no off road except my flat front yard no 50 miles at 90MPH over heating just easy back road riding.  Now it may go for 100,000 miles with no other issue but not a good start. At the 9000 mile mark by the way.

Let me start by saying I'm very impressed with Zero customer service.  My dealer in GA talked with them after they had replaced the BMS but the problem was still there.  Well turns out the battery was damaged.  Now which came first bad battery or bad BMS I do not know, one may have caused the other or both failed very close together hard to tell.  But from regen cutting out, long charge times resulting in only 80% SOC, and a whole lot of errors finally killing the bike now all seems well.  Now it is three months later.  Some of that was my dealers fault (some guy quit) a lot was transport back and forth to CA I think zero fixed it pretty quick once they got it.  Zero told me they were replacing my battery with a 2014 model as 2015s won't work and I guess they wanted to do it themselves which is why it went to CA also hard to transport Li batteries.  Now on one hand 2 years is pretty soon to have a pretty big issue but on the other hand going way above and beyond to fix it was amazing.  What will the next few years bring thousands of trouble free miles or a funky orange "art" statement just sitting in my garage? Well as of today I'm very happy to be on my bike and will be watching to see the 2016 and future models only get better.  Thank you to all the guys at Zero and WOW for helping me out.
