Not much going on at Intermot
« on: October 03, 2014, 03:51:47 AM »

Electric motorcycles were pretty much a no-show at the Intermot this year.  Zero was the only "major" manufacturer in attendance.  Zero was joined by only KTM and Tacita.  All of the usual suspects that you would expect to see at the show, such as Brammo, Mission, Energica, Saroléa, Saietta, and Bultaco were nowhere to be found.  And the major IC motorcycle manufacturers didn't even show off a concept electric motorcycle this year.  I wonder what is going on?  Is everyone getting "cold feet" about entering the mass production electric motorcycle market?

Brammo never goes to Intermot. They wait for EICMA in Milan in November.

According to their facebook page, Sarolea is at Intermot.  They have photos of their bike on display in the Bridgestone stand.

Maybe shipping the bikes to the big, international bike shows is too expensive for some of the start-ups?

I was hoping that Zero would bring their new line-up to the San Mateo bike show at the end of this month, but I got an email reply from them that they are not going - darn.

I didn't see any Saroléa at Intermot, and they are not in the catalog of exhibitors. As for Brammo, they are listed in the catalog with a booth number, but according to the person in charge of the exhibitors, Brammo was a "no-show". Their stand space at Intermot is just empty.

I just saw Sarolea's Facebook page, and it looks like there was one model on the Bridgestone stand .

Is there an EICMA show this year?  I thought the Intermot and the EICMA alternated every other year?   ???

EICMA - November 6-9, 2014

http://www.eicma.it/en/

Brammo doesn't go every year...just most years. And I'm pretty sure EICMA is a yearly event.

No Brammo had a booth number but this place was empty (some chairs and decoration filled this space) also the Brammo Page says the are at Intermot.

I would really like to know what went wrong. Couldn't find a clarification for this.

Eicma is every year, Intermot alternates with Paris Mondial.

Brammo was at Intermot in 2012. I sat on the Empulse there for the first time.
I was told two stories at this year's Intermot by two Brammo dealers (Brammo dealers had bikes on display themselves and you could test ride one on the long test track)

Story 1 (I did not believe this one) The Brammo truck had an accident and could not make it to the show.

Story 2 (sounds plausible) The Brammo reps were called out to more important duties and even though the local Brammo dealers offered to man the booth the show was still cancelled.
Just makes you wonder what those more important duties were...

I was also told that the Empulse and Empulse R stock was sold out completely for Europe and that a new production was started to fulfil all orders. (no idea if this is salesman talk)

I have posted my (poor quality) Intermot photos here https://flic.kr/s/aHsk4cJfdC

There was a lot less going on at the first U.S. "International" motorcycle show that is being held this weekend in San Mateo, CA than there was at the Intermot.

Here is a photo of the only electric device that I saw at the show.
