Handlebar width on the 2012 Zero S and DS?
« on: July 13, 2014, 01:55:23 PM »

Has anyone got a tape measure handy? I've been trying to find the info online but the spec sheets don't seem to list the width of the bikes, unless I'm missing it!

I'm seriously considering buying either of these models but I'm worried the handlebars will be a bit wide. Why? I keep my Fazer in the back garden and have to squeeze it through the narrow gap between the side of my house and the fence.

If one of you would be good enough to take a measurement then I can do the same with the Fazer. The Fazer bars are fine, narrower than my old Aprilia Shiver's. The Fazer is a bit fatter though and the exhaust is the bit I have to watch.

It looks like the bars are the same on both bikes, so either will do. I'd be most obliged. :-)

Mine has 77cm (30 5⁄16in?) hope it is correct.

But you can use a smaller handlebar or cut the original. (you need to drill the holes the instruments/switches need to be fixed or cut away the trunnion/stud)

Thanks B, much appreciated. When I'm off duty from looking after our bambino I'll go and check the Fazer. If memory serves, 77 cm sounds ok.

I'm guessing that the look over the ZF9 yesterday went well then?

Yes thanks Justin. If I can find the time I'd like to write up the experience. Jason was great. I also met Alex and Charles. They've managed to fit the new motor to your old bike by the way. I was able to give it a run around the back. I'm really keen to buy it but as you'll see from the topic I've just posted, I have a big hurdle to get over first!

The Fazer's are 72cm wide. I think 77 will still work though.
