Just replaced my ZF9S
« on: June 15, 2014, 10:51:18 PM »

My dealer got in a 2013 ZF-S 11.4.
So as I've had a few problems with the motor on my old ZF9, I decided to replace it with the ZF11.4

Really pleased I managed to snag the 2013, as I know it was getting a bit of interest in the showroom.  ;D

Congrat !!

You'll really love it !

The glitch problem is solved on my 2012 S. It was the encoder potting.. they replaced it and it work really well now.

i'll soon get the same torque as the 2013 on my 2012! i'm installing the 2013 motor on it and will also make the Size 6 upgrade.

As well i'll not have the same powerband as the 2013 does due to the lower voltage the 2012 is but i'm convinced i'll apprecaite!

Dont forget Post pics of your new toy !

Thanks!

The problem I had with my ZF-9's motor was that it would fault out the Sevcon controller on start up if the motor got wet.
Fine when riding in the rain, but if I switched off the bike, and tried to then switch it on when it was raining, the bike would not start.

Zero has not heard of this before, so its a very rare fault.

Anyway, my dealer decided to offer me the 2013, so I accepted. :)

Is the dealer planning to fix your old bike?

Yes. It just needed a replacement motor, which is on order and being done under warrenty. Other than that my ZF9 was really nice and I'm going to miss it (first EV motorbike and all).

Where I go after the ZF11.4 is anyones guess. Generally I never stick to one make of bike for long, as I like to switch around manufacturers. I'd love to try out the Empulse in a few years time, and of course now that the Livewire has been announced, well maybe its time for my first Harley-Davidson... ;)

Was your old ZF9 red by any chance Justin? If so, I'm hoping to hear about a price for it once it's fixed up. Nice that you managed to get the '13 model. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same bike they had as a demonstrator at Supermoto...

You chatted to Charlie about it then?
Nice chap, and Streetbike seem pretty pro-electric on the whole.
