On my 2014 SR I find that the Zero application can rarely connect to the bike.
Most of the time I have to:
1. Turn on bike. Observe a working bluetooth connection
2. Take out my phone, kill the bluetooth connection, kill the app
3. Start the bluetooth connection again, start the Zero app again.

The above sequence gets it working about 1/3 to 1/2 of the time I try it. It then often (but not always) drops out as soon as my phone connects to my other BT accessories (Pebble,Jawbone UP24, Scala Rider G4, etc)

Most of the times I ride I don't use the app so it's not a big deal but if there's anyway to provide feedback to the company that makes the app for on how a bluetooth app can avoid connection issues I'd be happy to provide some.

I see.

I tried again this week end with no luck. It's just strange.

The flakyness with which the app connects drives me nuts! I can get the Bluetooth connection fairly reliably but then getting the app (iPod Touch 4) to see the bike data or riding screen I guess depends on phases of the moon or perhaps a Shaman's dance. I have not identified a definite pattern I can follow.

Trikester & Kensiko,
Sounds like we have very similar experiences.
I'm using an iPhone 4S, running IOS7.04

Aaron, let me know if there's anything I can do to assist. (I'm back working as a hw/sw program manager, designing client-server solutions that uses BT)

OK OK I got it now!

The RUN light must be flashing, the emergency stop must be at OFF and don't use the bluetooth connection from the phone, use the app!

Connected now. I will have to check if I can see the error message (contactor error) the next time it occurs.
