Today I got an email from Michelin Germany confirming to use the 120/80-R16 City Grip on our 3.00x16 rim.

Hope this will satisfy my inspector. If someone has the same problem PM me and I can forward the email!

Put the Avon on the front today, ran out of time to do the rear. Went out for a ride and the bike is absolutely transformed. I highly recommend this for anyone still running on stock tires and not riding any dirt. Much, much smoother and ALL of the mid-50s vibration has completely gone.

Can't wait to get the rear on.

OK, I seem to be in the minority here as I ride my DS in a lot of dirt.   As such, I was really disappointed in my tire options but after more research I went with a 120/90-16 Rear Bridgestone Trailwing TW40.   Good news, it all fits if anyone else wants to go that route you can do so with confidence as there is plenty of room for that size of tire.   I will report back if there are any negative impacts on range or power but it does fit just fine as you can see from the pics below.

Looking forward to having a little more bite into the soft stuff and sand.









There is not a front that can match this tire in a 17 so I am probably going to mount another rear tire on the front wheel when it is time.

I wonder what a second set of wheels & rotors would set one back, to make an easy swap between [uncompromising] street & dirt tires.  I mainly use my DS for daily highway commuting, but would love to take it on some nice cow / fire / goat trails once in a while!

I asked my dealer for the price of the S wheels, it was an idea to change it to my DS for better tire range. Didn't get a price yet.

But be careful I am not sure if a 110/70 will fit between the fork seals part. It at a different position (tire) at the DS!

I will try the K671 with 110 on the front and will give you the confirmation. I measured like 8mm clearance on one side and 10mm on the other side with the actual 17/90-100 ds tire so with 10 more mm total it should be like 5mm more on each side so this will leave 3mm clearance. But even it it dont fit i could readjust the spoke to shift a little bit the front wheel by 2-3mm if needed. As for the rear 140 tire same K671 serie from Kenda,  i'm pretty sure it will fit nicely.

I like it.  It definitely hooks up better in the loose stuff.  There is a little vibration around 15 MPH.   Other than that, better on pavement as well. 

I am going with the same tire in the front soon as the the front OEM tire is getting thin.

Thanks WindRider I did not buy my bike for all street 20 dirt 80 if I could get knobs that is what I would run thanks again Soup

I agree, I put the Bridgestone TW40, 120/80 on the back of my DS recently, its great, only a little low speed vibration, like rolling too a stop. I got 3500 miles per tire out of the two previous stock rear tires. This tire has deeper and a little more aggressive tread. Looks good also.  The stock front tire is still holding up.
