Finally an improved warranty for 2014
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:49:47 PM »

Standard motorcycle warranty* 2 years  (same as prior to 2014)
Power pack warranty* 5 years / 100,000 miles  (this is new as of 2014)

Zero is headed in the right direction.

This is hugely comforting as a consumer. I don't know any manufacturer in all of motorcycling that has a warranty that lasts that long by default, even on powertrain alone. As far as I know, three year is usually the limit. Electric powertrain in the long-term will certainly make long term reliability much higher!

Brammo rolled out a 5 year warranty earlier this year I believe.

Sounds like they're following suit! This is great for everyone IMHO.

I agree. What would really give potential buyers confidence would be an extended warranty option of 3 more years on all components like other motorcycle manufacturers offer. These bikes are not really do it yourself type bikes except for a handful of people and you still have the controller and motor to worry about even if the battery pack is covered.  I would gladly pay an additional $1,000 for 3 more years of warranty on this bike.

I paid an extra $700 for a 7-year warranty on my Triumph and never used it.   ::)

Frankly, I can't recall a motorcycle that I have owned within the past 40 years that had a problem after the first year of ownership that could have been resolved by a longer warranty.

Me either, but peace of mind is what that's about mostly.

For the opposite POV I never had a bike that required warranty fixes at all until my XU, and that was only in the 2nd year of ownership...
