Quick charging the FX
« on: August 30, 2013, 09:56:26 PM »

I was wondering if anybody else with a fx doesn't have the auxiliary charging connector like it is shown in the owners manual and on the zero fx web page. On my fx there is no auxiliary charging connector like in the owners manual unless its under that plastic cover. There is no port or anything just the plastic cover that covers that whole section. So if you don't have this how do you quick charge?

The quick charge connector is hidden behind the gray formex panel.

I cut a slot in the formex and have used mine ;)

I did the same after Harlan sent me a photo showing where it is located. It is also a little tricky getting that plastic off. I got some instructions from Zero eng about that process. You could guess about where the connector is behind the plastic and cut the plastic away with an Xacto knife. I wanted to be super precise so I went to the trouble of removing the plastic to cut the hole.

I just popped out to the garage and snapped a photo for you. See attached.

This is a service!

Trikester if you can't ride your bike because of the lack of batteries, it works at last as a nice Photo model ;D

Hope you guys get the battery back soon!

Thanks for the picture, kinda figured that's what I had to do. I'm just afraid of messing up the plastic. I think the replacement batteries arrived this week at zero then they ship them out. I'm guessing next week people will start getting there's.

Happy that the photo helped. It's funny - I looked in my 2013 FX photo file on the computer and didn't have a photo of that. Then, duh, the bike's in the garage and my camera's right here. The rest is history ;D It's a wonder that I didn't have to clean accumulated dust and cobwebs off the bike first ;)

I'm getting worried about getting the batteries before I leave for Utah. I was assured that I would have them by the 10th (I'm leaving morning of the 12th) but it is getting close  :( I still have my 2012 DS that I can take but I was very much looking forward to riding the '13 FX and comparing the range to the DS rides of last year, just like I did in NoCal's Klamath Forest last June.

Call Zero and tell them that, trikester. They might be able to bump you up in the queue.

Can't hurt, anyhow.

They already know my situation in regards to my coming trip.

But if they are still having supplier problems there won't be much they could do about it :( Notice I said "if" because I'm just guessing about that situation.
