modfying DS 2013
« on: November 02, 2013, 05:41:21 PM »

Winter is coming and i'm looking for some modifications for my bike.
Specifically i'm looking for some fenders to keep the water from coming up from the tires and road.
Does any of you have an idea if there are fenders and mudguards available that fit the DS?

thanks a lot!

I've been riding under the rain the last two weeks and indeed the front wheel of my DS is putting water above the battery and on all the connectors related to the handlebar switches located there, and the blinker relay. On the rear even with the Topcase holder dirty water is coming all the onto the rear saddle and into the open area just after the Sevcom ESC. So I get my black tape and tried to close these openings. The Tucano Urbano Gaucho also helped to protect the opening between the fake fuel tank and the saddle:

Oh, that's interesting. I may look for some places to strategically apply "liquid tape", because Seattle's rainy season is pretty long. So far, I've been focusing on bolts and joints exposed that may rust, typically for the luggage racks.

Take care you have an opening at the bottom/top so water can drain out if entered some where.

Sealing to much has sometimes the opposite effect.

Especially if it vaporize and can't ventilate.

DC 4 and corrosion X on electrical connection, steel and aluminum parts work better than tape.

Well it's now round about zero Celsius everyday, and we had our first snow storm. It was still in the 10th Celsius one month ago.....
