My old Aprilia RS50 is going to REFUEL at LS
« on: June 20, 2013, 03:28:45 AM »

A couple of years ago I owned a very hopped-up 2003 Aprilia RS50 that blew-up for the final time (the con rod gave up). I gave it to my son-in-law who sold it to a fellow by the name of Henry who planned to electrify it.  He now has it running and it is powered by a 2013 Zero motor (apparently he knows someone at Zero).  He plans to take it to the REFUEL races at Laguna Seca in July.  Here is a link to a video of the bike on a dyno. If you go to the REFUEL event, check it out. I sure hope his con rod doesn't break like mine did.   ;)

Attached is a photo of the bike when I owned it.

I hear the Aprilia RS50 conversion held up well at REFUEL last weekend.  Here are a couple of photos that its owner/builder posted on elmoto. The bike was running with a 2013 Zero motor on reduced voltage, produced 28 hp at the rear wheel and weighs 280 pounds (which is about what it weighed in stock form with its original 50 cc motor), according to the owner's post.  I do like the look of that bike.   8)

Nice looking bike.   I see he changed the exhaust!    :)
