CHP issues new regulations for lane-splitting

For you types that live in California and occasionally lane-split on the freeway, I heard on the Channel 7 news last night that the CHP has issued new guidelines to their officers regarding when riders "sharing" lanes will be ticketed.  It was reported that traffic must be moving no more than 30 mph and the motorcycle's speed shall be no more than 10 miles an hour faster than the cars they are passing.  If they are not conforming to these "guidelines" then the CHP will give them a ticket (they didn't say for what, but the CHP will think of something) - if they can catch the offender.

From what I was reading, there wasn't any reference to strict ticketing due to not following these guidelines.  The way I see it, the official recognition makes it more clear for motorcyclists what they can do without being paranoid of getting a ticket, epically when riding in an unfamiliar part of the state.  If you stick to their guidelines you are probably not going to get hassled. There is always, and always will be the out for the CHP to give you a ticket for dangerous maneuvers.  I have actually been using a similar guidelines for myslelf, to keep myself from getting carried away, which is pretty easy when you are in "the zone" splitting lanes.  I stay less than 15mph faster than traffic, and only split if traffic is going below the speed limit by 20mph or more.

SOUNDS FAIR TO ME LANE SPLITTING REGULATIONS SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS
NO CROSSING OF LANES IE YOU SHOULD PASS THE OTHER VEHICLE WHILE IN ONE LANE NO LINE CROSSING ONLY WHEN SAFE AND ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS TRAVELING AT LESS THAN SEAT BELT REGULATED SPEEDS ( 20 mph at most)CALL ME A OLD FART BUT LANE SHARING IS FOR LOCAL TRAFIC NOT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT LEAST WE DONT HAVE TO WAIT BEHIND THE TIN CANS AT THE LIGHTS THEN OR IN TRAFIC JAMS ON THE HIGHWAY THAT THE CARS CAUSE IN THE FIRST PLACE
