Removing air from forks after each ride.
« on: June 14, 2013, 05:47:49 AM »

Does anyone else do this. It is recommended in the manual. I don't put the bike on a stand. What I do is leave the bike on the kickstand, loosen the bleed screw a couple turns, then pump the shocks and lift up on the handlebars a bit until some of the weight is off the shocks as I re-tighten the hex nuts. Whether this does anything, I have no idea. The manual seems to be recommending to put the bike on a stand to do this after every ride though.

We had that topic last year with the 2012 too. The manual tells you to do and some had problems with fork oil leaking!
I was worried and installed some fork bleed valves. I had to remove a small piece of the plastic (tank).

After 1 year I think it is not necessary we don't do motor-cross racing. But I am not sure how different climatic differences influence it.

My dealer was "smiling" when he saw it.

I've added those push-button release valves to each of my three Zeros. But I only use them when I tie the bike down in the bed of my pickup and when i untie it. The forks go through a lot of compression and hold there when tied down. With the push-buttons it's quick and easy and requires no tools. I think they are about $25 per pair. You need to be sure you get the same thread size as the little bleed screws you are removing.
