Zero's Top Box
« on: March 20, 2013, 10:44:20 AM »

Zero provides an accessory page for a top box.

It appears to be a Givi E340 Vision top box with a Monolock rack.

Has anyone installed this yet, or seen it at a dealer? I'd like to have a look before using it. 34L seems adequate for a top box on this size of bike, but maybe a larger one would be fine. I looked at the B47 Blade, but it does look ungainly on top and probably would introduce enough drag to be a bit of an issue.

I'll try to order one soon in any case, because a little locked cargo bin goes a long way towards utility. Even without the case, the extra grab bars would provide a better anchor for tie-down straps or a cargo net.

I read through the 2012 S case thread and put in inquiries to the vendor for the police/fleet fittings, since it seems to be the same unit and also includes pannier fittings which should come in handy. I'll also ask my local dealer.

Zero now seems to be offering a Monokey plate (vs. Monolock which ha been more scooter-oriented) along with a Trekker 33L top case. Monokey is a sturdier line of cases and will interoperate with more motorcycles. I've been using a Givi Maxia for a while now, so if I had to do this over, I would pick the Monokey option and re-use or exchange the case with my other bike. As it is, I have a used 45L monolock Givi case on order to replace the 34L that Zero sells, and I'll let that go on Craigslist or such.
