Zero S/DS 2012 performance upgrades

Thread to discuss 3rd party Zero S/DS upgrades for those of us who bought 2012 and want 2013 performance, more or less, from our bikes without taking the depreciation hit to sell and buy a 2013 model. Hollywood Electrics has such an upgrade. Rode an HE upgraded 2012 last week and was impressed.  What is the upgrade exactly and how much does it cost? Warranty implications? Any other dealers out there with similar offerings on the East Coast?

I would love to have the range of a 11.4kw 2013 S. My 9kw 2012 S9 is
just a little short on a route I would like to take to go up to Estes Park.
Currently I take Hwy 36 up over 8,500 ft, then down the hill to Estes
@ 7,500 ft. 63 miles round trip without a charge stop. The route I would
like to take is Hwy 7 up over 9,000 ft and down to Estes. Then down Hwy
36 to home. Approx 80 miles for the loop. (All in economy mode driving
conservatively of course).

I, too, am very interested in this upgrade. I love my 2012 S ZF9, but if I can boost the range and/or charging capabilities that would be great.

The controller upgrade will reduce range as it allows you to use more power.

There are really only 2 options, the Sevcon Size 6 which HE use and a variety by Kelly.  The Kelly comes in many versions up to 1000A and has the advantage over the Sevcon of being relatively easy and inexpensive to program.

A race bike builder on endless sphere found that he cooked the ME0913 motor (which the zero unit is a modified version of) with 1000A.  The battery and motor should be able to support an 800A controller safely for road use but fans might be an idea.

Somebody more knowledgeable than me would have to look into how a kelly would interface with the battery management etc. On the Zero but it is available with a CanBus option.
