Bikes are a bit dirty, it's the rainy season right now.

New to the forum.  Getting ready to upgrade one of my bikes and sell the other and figured this would be a good place to look for information.

About my bikes:

The black one:
It's my old 72V 20A by AiLang.  Great to ride with it being so low to the ground, it handles beautifully.  Top speed of around 30-35MPH, range of about 40-45 miles, 6 12V silicone batteries.  It's a year old and I'm getting ready to sell it for about $150.  The bike isn't for sale yet, so please don't contact me about it.

The red one:
My new toy I bought second hand for $650. 48V 40A by ShenKe (Jonway E-vehicle).  A little tall for my taste, but fun to ride and the ladies love it.  Top speed of about 45MPH, not sure about the range as I've never run the battery down, guessing about 60-70 miles.  Looking to upgrade it to 60A since the motor and controller can handle it.  Hoping to get 60+MPH out of it.  It's currently got 8 12V silicone batteries in it.  Thinking about building a removable box with 4 more and placing on the floorboard for when I need more speed and range.  Right now looking into how I can wire it up and add a plug on the bike so I can just plug it in when I need it, and take it off when I don't.  Should be pretty easy.

Anyway, looking forward to reading the forums.

Edit:  After quickly looking through the forum, noticed the Brammo brand seems pretty popular.  Just looked at some Brammo bikes on their website.  Wow, those are expensive.  How can they justify those prices for those bikes?  $8000 for the Enertia????  I can go a couple blocks from my house a get a bike for $3000 that will outperform the Enertia based on the specifications they list.  I'm hoping that $8000 price tag is the MSRP and dealers are really selling them for a good bit less.

that is awesome!
I didn't know there were electric scooters
http://www.jonway.com/product.asp?type=16&keywords=&ctype=&p=2

too bad their USA dealer website is down.

I don't know if Brambo is popular, they haven't made a new bike in over a year and yes they cost $8,000!!! that is not a MSRP.
Zero bikes cost about the same here in the USA. You can get them used for around half the price though. and in the next month they will probably have 25% off the old 2011 models.

Jonway vehicles are supposed to be DOT certified, so you should be able to import one to the USA and register it.  Check there website and send them an email for more info.  If you decide you want to import one, let me know and I'll help you if I can.

In regards to the link: http://www.jonway.com/product.asp?type=16&keywords=&ctype=&p=2

My red bike is the MBL-A 3000W with silicone batteries, and it goes a good bit faster than the specifications list.  The MJS and MYX are beasts of a bike.  The MJS 5000W with Li-ion batteries runs a little under $3000, and goes faster and longer than specs list.  The MYX looks amazing.  A guy across from my apartment who own a bike mod shop has one, and it is freaking awesome with the custom work he has done to it.

I'm an American, but I'm currently in Xi'an, China.  There are more electric bikes/motorcycles/scooters than there are cars here.  Where I live there are two huge electric vehicle malls with everything from e-bicycles to electric cars, plus lots of small shops  I was looking at a compact E-car that seats 4-5 for only $3000.  Prices here are great due to the large amount of competition.  I was surprised.  Compared to the USA, China is definitely way ahead when it comes to electric vehicles.

Also, there are lots of electric scooters in china, more scooters than anything else.  My red bike is a electric motorcycle built on a scooter frame: motorcycle wheels, brakes, shocks and such. This is because most inner city delivery services and families use electric scooters since they can use the floorboard to carry stuff.  Also the illegal taxis here are often electric scooters modified to add a carriage for carrying people.

After my experience with electric vehicles, I'll never go back to IC.

Greetings from Xi'an!

Hello jg2369!

I am European and I also live in Xi'an until 10/2012.

I had a ShenKe MBM1 until it was stolen just 2 weeks ago.

By tomxian at 2012-01-29

Now I am looking for a new e-scooter with at least 3000 watts engine and 40AH batteries.

You must admit that this is not easy in Xi'an.

The majority of dealers in Santa Lu street and in the North of the railway mainstation sell e-scooters with 350-500 watts.

So far I know only ShenKe is selling such kind of power e-scooter, they have two shops in Xi'an.

But the price level at these shops is about 20% above market price and even if you bargain for hours, they do not give you more than 5%.

There is a JONWAY shop at Santa Lu but they sell small models only.

And then there are some TaoBao shops, but only one with a 'real' shop:

http://shop65714854.taobao.com/view_shop.htm?spm=1103WHGC.f-4zJWk.o-2npREo&shop_nick=65714854

And that's it!

So my question to you is:

Do you know other shops in and around Xi'an where Jonway/Shenke is sold?

TOM
