How a 17" rear on new DS?
« on: June 04, 2011, 04:36:31 AM »

I'm wondering how they got a 17" wheel on the rear of the new DS? It doesn't look to me like I can put a 17 on my 2010 and clear the tire. It would be very close! I want to go to a 17" rim because the tire tread I want to use isn't made in a 16" rim size.

Maybe they redesigned the welded on axle mounts. If they made those parts a little longer (moving the axle back a little) they wouldn't have to lengthen (redesign) the whole swing arm.

Anybody know what they did to get a 17" rear?

The DS still uses a 16" tire while the S uses a 17". The only change to the swingarm is the cross support, instead of it being cylindrical, it is now "D" shaped which not only allows more clearance for a larger tire but also strengthens the swingarm.
