unbalanced Zero X/MX Pack
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:10:33 AM »

My first Zero Batt pack has become unbalanced. I have always wondered why the fully charge light never came on. Zero sent me the updated charger with new firmware. After letting it charge for 24hours the charger shuts down with Pack Over Voltage. If I unplug and let it sit the voltage of the pack drops down as the over charged cells bleed. This pack is well out of warranty but Zero is going to allow me to bring it in. Not that I'd expect them not to want to look at it. With the charger trouble, and also the self draining nature of the bike as a whole before Zero sent the cut off dongle. I do have a CBA III here to pull out some aH and try and bring it back to balance but hey since Zero offered I will just let them deal with it.

I just received E-Mail notification from Zero on the charger replacement.  Apparently they sent it out weeks ago and wondered why I didn't
send my old unit back for exchange.   I never saw the package come in the mail ???   I will wait to hear from them ounce they run tracking
on the package.  About how long ago since yours was delivered?

I sent my charger back months ago and have got both calls and emails about why I did not return my charger. I told them to check the tracking number each time as I just put the return label on it and handed it to the UPS driver. Zero seems to have a big problem with locating the tracking numbers. I ask them each time I get bugged about it for the tracking number and those guys cant provide. I didnt write down the tracking number, I don't feel its up to me to provide yet the 3 times those guys have called I get requested for it.

Got the new charger around end September I think.

When I take my batt down Monday I will see what the heck is up with my returned charger.

It's been about two months since I took my charger and Batt to Zero. I got a call two weeks ago and was told Zero is going to swap my batt out as it was down to about 50% capacity. I was told my new batt was being tested and would be sent out. Called this week and was told it was still being cycle tested. I was also told Zero has a new cell that it is using in the new batts.

Well Zero responded on Feb, 15th "This email is to inform you that I will be sending out a new power pack to you in the next couple of days"

Still waiting....Shame too as Presidents day I was at the ranch with no toy. Guess I should have grabbed a spare pack. I might after it announces the new packs/cells. Maybe that is what its waiting on to send me my pack?

Update: Just got a UPS tracking number! Shame the weekend looks like rain. Lets hope these guys don't forget the charger.....The "Hazardous Materials" thing seems new. I should have just picked it up from them. I should add that my pack was not unbalanced but was showing signs of age according to zero. I'd only put 175 charge cycles max and only about 50 of those was to max discharge. I just never ever got a green light from both chargers. The first charger I exchanged would time out and the newer one would fault with 3 red blinks (over volt)

Number of Packages:   1
UPS Service:   GROUND
Hazardous Materials:   YES
Weight:   55.0 LBS

Got my batt today!!! but no god damn charger those lame ass hats.

Those guys are sending the charger but man what brains these people have....I am in Oakland, CA about 50ish miles of Zero. How are those guys sending me the charger....Fedex first business day over night. Well Today is Friday, So it will get here Monday. While I thank them for the rush put on it, The battery was sent UPS ground and made it here in 1 day. It seems a huge waste of money on Zero's part to ship the charger to me over night Fedex first business day.

I guess in a way its my fault for not going to get the charger and the battery as this is how I took it into them in the first place. I feel bad now that its spending this money on shipment.
