Charger help? (UK)
« on: August 31, 2023, 07:55:59 PM »

A few months ago I bought a 2015 12.5Kw S - and its been great, I have loved every minute of it (except the seat, I hate that damn thing)

The onboard charger died for the previous owner, so he bought 2x 3.3KW TC Chargers and put them under the tank.
Getting to the chargers to plug in the cables wasnt the easiest but I made it work until I could try and put them in the belly pan and wire up something more permanent......

Fast forward until yesterday, I done the usual routine, connect the chargers, power up the bike, plug in the L2 charger.... except this time I heard a pop and the charge point went RED, Ive checked the chargers and can smell burning so I am assuming theres been a lose wire where the chargers are hard to get to.... THE BIKE IS FINE! CALM DOWN! I panicked like fuck!

Anyway, they both don't power on now (going to replace the cable tonight incase thats the issue) but in the mean time, I have no way of charging my bike.

The specs of the chargers are below
TCCHARGER
Model: HK-J-H116.4-32
Config: 02LI4160-108/F-001
Input: 90-265VAC 60/60HZ  16A
Output: 116.4V32A@220VAC

I have no idea where he got these from as I cannot see the same ones with same config etc ANYWHERE!

I want to go down the most tried and tested route instead of replacing these like for like, but it seems like getting hold of diginow 2.5 chargers is like gold dust!
What is my next, quickest, cheapest option?

I wanted to get a 6.6kw charge tank, but weve just had a baby, so thats not happening yet as I can't justify £2500

You've got me feeling a little bad because I've recently bought a charger off Ebay for a steal that I didn't really need. There is this however, might be worth contacting the seller and seeing if they'd be willing to split the charger from it. If not it could still work out cheap if you could find a buyer for the battery, if it's still at a decent SOC (it's been up for sale for a decent while, and then however long it's sat around since being removed from the bike).

If it's any use to you, I've got a couple of Eltek Flatpacks (plus cable, Anderson connector, etc.) that I was intending to use as a fast charger for my Zero FXS. It's the parts for a DIY solution that you'll need to finish. If you think this might be useful, I'll dig out the details and get some photos.

This may or may not be helpful but in the past, for crazy stuff, oddball stuff, hard to find stuff, custom stuff, Ive used this place before.

https://www.powerstream.com/

in the past I have had them custom build stuff for me, and if they can't / don't want to they have always been a great source for finding places that might have what you need.

Thanks. Maybe as a last resort.
I need it to be level 2 compatible for work and home charging.

But appreciate the message and link.

That would be amazing if you could? It's definitely something I'd be interested in.
