Awww come on now!!
No Project is complete if you don't have at least 2 or 3 parts that you have no clue what they do or where they go!

Another possibility, the 'kit' was supposed to originally goto a dealer or something, someone who already should know all this info you had to learn yourself, but later on, they just sold it to the gen pub, sans the 'expected knowledge' and it didn't dawn on them, hmm maybe we better update these instructions for people who DON'T work on these every day?

If you had to perform some tricks and stuff to get your stuff to work, you might want to write that down or take pictures or something, while those tricks are still fresh in your mind.  A year or three down the road when you may need to revisit this thing, you may not remember, ok how did I make this work again?
