Hey all,
Bought my Enertia in Southern Cal on New Year's Eve and thought I'd share a time-lapse vid I shot of my new commute:
Daily Slog, Feb. 4, 2010It was shot at 1-fps on a Canon Elph with an
Aiptek handlebar mount. (An HD helmet cam might be my next move...)
I had been commuting on an electric scooter capped at 24mph, so upgrading to the Enertia is like riding a rocket. (My boss describes the Enertia as a cross between a dirt bike and a Tron light-cycle.) Whenever I take it out in public, I invariably find myself fielding questions from dazzled, enthusiastic people.
I ride from Atwater Village in Northeast L.A. to nearby Glendale, where I work as a lead lighting artist at Dreamworks. There are a couple of green parking spots reserved for EVs, so I can juice up on the company dime. It's about a 15-mile round trip at speeds up to 45mph.
With my scooter, the speed and range were a real limitation, restricting me to the shortest and flattest route. On the Enertia, I relish taking the long way to work over the curvy, wooded hill road that cuts across Griffith Park (see video). On a daily basis, I find myself feeling incredibly lucky to have such a fun ride at my
disposal.
Cheers,
-= D =-
