just received today my "brown" connector from Mouser. It fits fine. Now I have to think about what to attach to the connector. Charger, electric barbecue....

you can post a photo of the connector you received from mouser?

Just to be clear, working with these connectors does require some finesse that is not obvious from the official instructions (but do read those, they just didn't "click" for me until those crazy charger guys showed me how they assemble them). The short of it is to mind how those prongs work, and how to make and insert the pins properly so everything locks into place and the leads mate when joining connectors.

The retaining prongs don't really work until you insert crimped cables into them, which is its own minor skill.

I think what I'm saying is: the plug won't connect unless cables are inserted, because the prongs are meant to be pushed down by the cables to retain them securely.

Yes, this is exactly what I experienced, when I tried to "connect" the empty brown shell. It does not fit. Once the cables soldered inside the plugs and those installed until they "click", it will mate easily the Zero's connector. The force needed to insert and extract the connector is also well done so as to ensure good stability and not excessive muscle power.

then it is identically: you bought it from mouser? I wrote him and said that black is equal to brown. Then I wrote to anderson.com and said that the zero connector is customized. And instead they both wrong? Just as well, much better :-)

the black housing has some different notches or so, kinda "voltage encoding". and there is nothing "zero specific".

uhm... I bought a pair of 879-SBS75XBRN-BK, then I complete three blacks SBS75X connectors. You say you might be missing something in order to connect to the bike?

the only thing is that I've taken only the outer shells, but I have the inside of blacks connectors, at least the internal parts will be compatible, right?

The different colors are all keyed a little different. This is to prevent the wrong voltages from accidentally being connected. This would be present in a warehouse or something where there may be multiple vehicles that use different voltages. You could disassemble the brown connector on the bike and swap it with a different color housing. As long as the color is the same, they are compatible.

I realize this is an old thread but it's 1st one I saw that compared the two. I also bought the black which is keyed differently. This comparison image and part number above are super helpful. Thank you!
