Caught in the act
« on: August 07, 2022, 08:23:21 PM »

I was riding home from lunch yesterday when a friend pulled up alongside me in his pickup truck and snapped this photo.

Nice and so rare! Despite all the km spent on motorcycles, the only picture I have seen of my SR/F while on the road, I am not even on it. It is just the rear license plate next to "117 kph" written as an overlay. The policeman who pulled me over proudly showed it to me the moment he got it on his smartphone from his remote colleague.

You know how when you get a new car, you suddenly notice all the people driving the same car?

I bought my SRS in 2020 and from that day until now I have seen exactly ONE person on a zero, an old one whining loudly as if something was wrong.  I mean the bike, not the rider.

And exactly ONE Zero parked beside a house, a sunbaked SR.

That's it.

In 26000 miles.

Nothing in my neighborhood or on the road BUT I did meet one other rider at a couple of Electric Vehicle gatherings (at the first one we were the ONLY two motorcycles present, at the second a rider showed up on a home-built bike).  On one of my vacations a couple of years ago I saw a couple of FXSes parked on the street but never saw the owners.

On Facebook I've spoken to a couple of other "local" Zero riders but haven't met either of them (and one is selling her SR/F as she can't ride anymore due to health issues).

I ride up to Alice's Restaurant every Sunday morning for breakfast and have yet to see a single SR/F or S in their parking lot or across the street. Mostly new BMW's or KTM's, with a few of this or that ICE's thrown in. ??? The money is there, just apparently no interest in using it to buy EV motorcycles - although that is not the case for electric cars. Teslas are all over the place everywhere you go.  ;)
